Horseshoe Trail
The picturesque Horseshoe Trail, which winds through scenic Valley Forge is part of the Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Maine to Georgia. The Horseshoe Trail offers day hikers and overnight backpackers beautiful scenery and interesting geologic formations.

Schuylkill Navigation System & Canal Trail
Completed circa 1825 as part of the 120 mile Schuylkill Navigation System, this major transportation carried coal, foodstuffs and people... the very lifeblood of this young nation. Only a few miles of this entire system remain - two of which comprise the surviving Oakes Reach and loop on both banks of the Schuylkill (the only stretch of the river with watered canals on both sides). Rated one of the top five YMCA's in Pennsylvania, the Phoenixville branch offers 2 heated indoor pools, 1 olympic size outdoor pool, 2 full-sized gymnasiums, 1 complete with raised exercise track and a fitness center. Located adjacent to historic French Creek, public camping is available on the grounds.

Great Valley Nature Center
The large 18th century barn houses a collection of live animals as well as ongoing educational programs for children and adults. A restored spring house, nature trails for hiking, maple sugaring in winter, and an environmental gift shop.

Pickering Hunt
Participate in a stirrup cup with the members of the hunt. Marvel at majestic horses, elegant riders, and Penn-Marydale Fox Hounds as they search for the elusive red fox (don't worry, nowadays it's another member with fox scent to lure the hounds!) Visit the home of Pickering Hunt with its great vistas and historic buildings. Learn about this sport that dates back to the Egyptian Pharaohs in 1500 BC and has evolved into modern day Fox Hunting.
